Failing to see the race to win it

umm, the Bou' is confused about this one.

yes, there are apparently angry people because of "affirmative action for white people"

because new admissions policies at the University of California system "will greatly expand the applicant pool, eliminate the requirement that applicants take two SAT subject tests and reduce the number of students guaranteed admission based on grades and test scores alone."

the hills of beverly

So, the Bou' wants to know which is more lame:

1) Naming a bank "First Bank of Beverly Hills" even though your bank is not located in Beverly Hills

or

2) Naming a bank "First Bank of Beverly Hills" and not having your crap together enough to avoid being shut down by the government?

Thanks for getting our hopes up that a bunch of smug assholes would be losing their money only to realize it's not the same assholes we thought it would be.

Also thanks to the LATimes for the lamest URI i the history of URIs:

no comment on the over/under

When the Bou' saw the headline "Man Accused of Selling Daughter for Cash, Beer" he knew California was involved. The question was: Northern or Southern California? It's pretty obvious that there are a great many possible areas in California where this could happen from the deep woods of northern Siskayou county to the meth trailers of southern Kern county.

Well, it turns out that Greenfield is pretty much exactly on the line dividing northern and southern California.

you do realize you bought a home in a desert right?

California has a long history of stealing water from other places, but this fine story highlights a rather extra Californian water story:

Developer builds houses in the desert. People buy them. People then figure out they just bought a house in the desert and that in the desert there is no water.

Just desserts? The Bou' sure thinks so, but then again the Bou' always had problems spelling desert and dessert.

cowboys and indians in the land of john wayne

your kids have to dress up like indians, your kids can't dress up like indians. welcome to the wonderful world that is california - where battles over school dress-up day make people so mad that they have asked the state to give their school less money to educate their children in protest.

Will all the parents do the Bou' a big favor and get your hind quarters on the short bus and go home?

Only in San Francisco..

can you run faster than anyone else and lose because you don't consider yourself elite.

seriously lame.

a little background:

Arien O'Connell, a middle school teacher ran faster than all the other women in the Nike (rhymes with hates women) marathon, wasn't allowed to win because she didn't consider herself elite and prizes are only given to the people that consider themselves elite, not the fastest person in the race.

SO TAKE THAT YOU LIBERAL ELITES, or not, maybe. You have confused the Bou'.

Seriously, The line that comes to mind is "what in the hell is wrong with you idiots?" I mean, we already are pretty sure that Portland is like San Francisco in ENGLISH, but come on.

yes. yes, at least one person REALLY CARES.

Someone really ought to just go home, spay and neuter their pets, and just chill out

confusing when to yell geronimo and domino

so, if you're already violating rules like "thou shalt not steal" I suppose it's not too much of a stretch to ignore the whole "look before you leap" thing, right?

I mean, the Bou' is pretty sure that this could happen anywhere, but it happened in California, where apparently it's not only hippies that think it's okay to try to break the law of gravity.

vegetarians that eat fish or chicken

look. vegetarian does not equal fish or chicken. most fish aren't even vegetarian themselves and chickens are about the most opportunistic animals out there. they will eat human babies if given the chance. fake vegetarian californian babies.

i mean it.

point is, don't call yourself a vegetarian if you eat meat of any kind or you will end up getting your state kicked out of the union. straight up.
